A few photos from a 1930 US Forrest Service Cabin I recently rented in Northern Californias Shasta Forrest. The experience was incredible. People can rent the extremely remote primitive cabin for an off the grid outdoor experience I wont soon forget.
This is William Scott Blair. He has been one of my favorite hair stylists to work with over the last few years and sadly hes bidding farewell to the NW for the allure of NYC. I wish him the best and cant wait to work with him on the east coast.
I’m excited to be showing some new work at Moksha on August 26th. The small solo show is inspired by the following Robert Louis Stevenson quote; "For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move." I will be displaying color film prints from this summers travels including Sayulita, San Francisco and Alaska.

I had the pleasure of making a music video for Case Studies (The new project from Jesse Lortz of The Dutchess & The Duke) along with my two good friends Andrew Waits & Miles Burnett. The three of us couldnt be happier with the results. It was awesome how many good lady friends came out for the cause. The video premiered yesterday on American Songwriter.com. Check their feature HERE.
Had the chance to shoot my first assignment for Bloomberg Businessweek this month. Idaho couple Mike and Chantell Sackett are fighting a David Vs. Golliath supreme court battle against the EPA after being told they couldn’t build on their legally acquired land. Check out the article online HERE. Photo best viewed Large
The uber talented Lynn Shelton. Her most recent film was just announced to be screening at this years Toronto International Film Festival. I had the pleasure of having Lynn as my video editing teacher back in the day at Art Institute. She is now better known as an acclaimed film/television director (Humpday, Mad Men, My Effortless Brilliance, We Go Way Back, MTV $5 Cover).
I shot a Red Bull Emcee Event last week & had the chance to shoot one of my longtime favorite rappers. Mr “Freaky Tales” Too $hort himself. I wasn’t imagining shooting the Affliction’d out Peace Sign throwing Short…but it was cool none the less. My 6th grade self was freaking out especially when ex Sonics hero Gary Payton ( Pictured below in the white shirt) also showed up in the building. Here is the portrait that makes me laugh and one of my favorite classic Short Dog tunes.
The always classic non posed double camera shot of Jake & His Mamiyas. Proud to have Jake as one of my good friends. He’s one of the most positive inspiring dudes ive met and easy to travel with for long periods of time.
I shot the lovely Sierra Stinson for the new City Arts magazine. Sierra’s Vignettes are well curated one night art shows thrown in her own apartment. I had the pleasure of showing in an early installment of Vignettes and am really glad to see the night gaining press and popularity. Sierra is one of the people really pushing Seattle’s art scene to grow and be recognized on a bigger level outside of our city.
Macklemore dropped his new video WINGS which already has an impressive 100,000 + views in its first week online. I had a small part in the Jordan homage production. Shooting some stills & Making some B&W film prints Mack flips through during the quick ode to one of the infamous Spike Lee/Mars Blackmon commercials (1:38 in). Check it out featured today on the MTV Buzzworthy blog.

This felt like a fitting photo for the 4th of July. My friends Kathryn & Devin in Portland at their recent moving/garage sale. They are expecting a little one soon & moving to the bay area. Glad i caught this moment. Someday their kid will remember their hip portland parents.
This Alaskan trip has been unreal so far. I’ve always heard what an amazing landscape it is but it really doesn’t hit you until you see it in person. I’m out at sea with my good friend Jake Stangel working on a travel mag story. I wanted to throw up a few quick teasers from our trip thus far. I cannot wait to drop off all the film I’ve been shooting of these amazing places & people.
Part 1 of a week long series I shot for NPR starts today. Legendary music writer Ann Powers collaborated with Andrew Matson to interview some of the foremost members of Seattle’s Hip Hop scene at various neighborhood coffee shop’s. Check it out all week HERE!
My buddy Cameron Rumford just put up his behind the scenes video from my Rowena Sartin shoot down in LA a few months back. Watching it puts a big smile on my face. You can tell how much fun we all had that day. Big thanks to my dear friend Swaan for modeling and for Katrina Thompson for styling.
My lovely and talented girlfriend Kate Bailey & her 3 counterparts at Free Time Industries are seeking funding to bring 3 of their new project ideas to market. I know the creative world is filled with kickstarter type projects but these girls are definitly doing amazing things and are worth supporting. I have really enjoyed collaborating with them on photography for all their products thus far & cant wait to get these ones ready for a shoot. Support the project HERE!
